Dusty Springfield, an English singer whose career extended from the late 1950s to the 1990s, remains the White Lady Of Soul. She is best known for her work during the 1960s, when she released singles such as I Only Want to Be with You, You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me and Son of a Preacher Man, and her acclaimed album Dusty in Memphis.
With her distinctive sensual sound, she is an important soul singer, and at her peak was one of the most successful British female performers, with 18 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 from 1964 to 1970. Her image, supported by a peroxide blonde beehive hairstyle, evening gowns, and heavy make-up, made her an icon of the Swinging Sixties.
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, Springfield died on 2 March 1999. She is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the U.K. Music Hall of Fame.

Rick Astley and Kiki Dee will perform alongside Lulu at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod as part of the Lulu and Friends concert on Monday 4th July. Please note Rick is only performing two songs and an additional duet with Lulu.
Three legendary artists performing at the opening concert of the eisteddfod will set a high the standard for the festival week. Lulu, Rick Astley and Kiki Dee will be part of one of the most exciting eisteddfod lineups to date, as they join a festival schedule, which already includes music superstar’s Russell Watson and McFly.

Rick is performing at Our Friends Acoustic in aid of Mencap on 12th May at the Grand in Clapham.He will be joined by Jimmy Somerville, Nik Kershaw, Toyah, T’Pau, Cutting Crew, Hazel O’Connor, Katrina and the Waves and Limahl.
This is a rare chance to experience your favourite 80s artists acoustically re-working some of their biggest hits. It’s the sound of the 80s, stripped back and intimate; a chance to spend time with the singers and songs we grew up with.After the live music has finished there will be an exclusive afterparty, with DJs spinning your favourite 80s tunes till late.
