Review from RPM Magazine
Having sold over 700,000 albums in Canada alone, Rick Astley is no stranger to big time success. However, after the tremendous response to his debut album, “Whenever You Need Somebody”, Astley has suffered the inevitable let down many artists face when hitting it big off the top. With his latest release, Rick hopes to return to chart topping status. Co-produced with Gary Stevenson and recorded in a converted schoolhouse in the English countryside, Body & Soul offers us more of Astley the singer, as opposed to Astley the Pop Maestro. Songs such as Hopelessly, The Ones You Love, and A Dream For Us take advantage of Rick’s unique vocal tonality as Rick shoots beyond the dance floor to the quiet soundstage. The first single, Hopelessly, has reached No.11 on the RPM charts after only 7 weeks, and should match the success of his last big hit, Cry For Help. This album is sure to be a major add at both AC and CHR and should be front racked at retail.
